0-7 :(

It’s hard to enjoy watching football when your team gets absolutely destroyed and humiliated every week.  I feel like putting a paper bag over my head. The Indianapolis Colts are horrendous without Peyton Manning. Someone has to take responsibility in fact I want someone to get fired for this. This team has always been a great solid playoff team and always was close to winning a second Super Bowl. The Sunday night game against the Saints was unbearable.  I found myself sitting there and constantly changing channels to avoid the carnage. Sitting in my living room and watching on my big screen TV my favourite sports team get manhandled made me enraged. Not to mention NBC’s coverage that consists of showing Bourbon Street any time could, playing music from the dreaded Bayou, and showing idiots in the stands with “Who Dat” signs.  Plus, Al Michaels and Chris Collinsworth are so boring to listen to. They just thrive at being mediocre broadcasters going through a mid life crisis. Everything about this season irritates me especially seeing 2nd class teams like the Lions and the Bills playoff bound. The Bills will play at Rogers Centre this Sunday. I don’t want to watch the NFL playoffs in January and not see the Colts play with the Steelers, Chargers, Patriots, or who ever.  Peyton manning has to stop standing on the sidelines and looking all depressed and helpless. The camera focuses on him several times during the game and he’s just standing there looking like he wet himself. From now on please watch from the booth or inside the locker room.

Relax, you’re a sports journalist.

Not 5, not 6, not 7, said LeBron James of the Miami Heat when asked how many championships the team would win. Ever since then the media has been hounding him and his team for his comments. Sports journalists have to understand that the men they are interviewing are athletes. You shouldn't hold them to a higher standard. These are men with very little education who are essentially jocks with money. They will say or do things that may contradict the team and themselves but, that doesn't mean you should beat them over the head with it. You’re not interviewing or reporting on politicians, law in- enforcement, business owners, or the government. You’re covering people who get paid to play a game in an arena in front of tens of thousands of people. It’s the quintessential definition of show business.  Sports are the greatest form of reality television and to sharply criticize any athlete for saying he wants to win multiple championships is arrogant. Remember that you place on a golden pedestal those with multiple championships.  The ones to focus on are those who have criminal records and or known use of performance enhancing drugs.
Focus on things in sports that work and don’t, for example the WNBA. It’s time to scrap this league. Nobody cares or watches these games. You have to know a guy who works for a cable company to get the channel that the game is on. Just a few weeks ago the Minnesota Lynx beat the Atlanta Dream 73 to 67 to win the championship. The NBA subsidizes the league and pours millions into it every year. There’s nothing wrong with the young women who play basketball but, this league has run its course. It’s time to shut it down.
Enough with the pink already! I’m tired of watching NFL games and seeing players wearing pink cleats, pink gloves, and pink hats. I know breast cancer is terrible and it’s great the league raises money for it but, making the players wear pink is so ridiculous. I don’t want to see my favourite football players wearing pink. I don’t want to see Ray Lewis wearing one of those pink head covers. I don’t want to see Adrian Peterson with a pink mouth guard. I definitely don’t want to see Dwight Freeny or Robert Mathis wearing pink. Although Donovan McNabb and Jay Cutler should wear pink gear all season.
I want to see LeBron James play in the NFL has a wide receiver. First down he runs in the middle and gets wrecked by Ray Lewis, Urlacher, Polamalu, and pretty much anyone, even David Akers. The NBA lockout is really hurting the great game of basketball. I love basketball so much and it sucks not being able to see Raptors games on television. They already cancelled the pre-season and the first two weeks. Now David Stern is threatening to cancel the Christmas Day games. What else is there for me to do on Christmas if there are no games on TV? I hope they end this lockout because TV is boring enough and if there are no basketball games on TV during the week I’m stuck watching the Big Bang Theory instead of the Raps taking on the Celtics. I’m stuck watching a Christmas carol and a Star wars Marathon instead of the Lakers playing the Heat at the Staples Centre. Plus, watching hockey is such a chore. It’s so boring and the game is just has exciting as a poker game.
The MLB should add another spot to the playoffs. Baseball in the post season is very exciting. I used to think baseball was a very boring spot but, the success of the Blue jays this season made the MLB a great game to watch. The playoffs have been great. The fall classic is going to be a great series with two teams not from the north east but rather the heartland. I 'm rooting for the Cardinals to win in 6 games over the Rangers.
